ANDY CRAWFORD, BVetMed, MRCVS

Andy was born in County Down, Northern Ireland.

He graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2002. Approaching the end of his degree he tracked towards equine studies before moving to the Equine Veterinary Hospital, Arundel spending his first year as an intern at the hospital working in anaesthesia, nuclear scintigraphy and in-patient care..

Following his internship he worked for a racing practice in Johannesburg, South Africa before returning to Arundel, becoming an associate in December 2003.

During the next 2 years he worked both on the road as an ambulatory vet and within the hospital spending more time involved and training in surgery. In 2005 he enrolled for the Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics), passing the first stage in 2006. In early 2007 he moved on to the surgical rota at the hospital.

Currently Andy spends most of his time working on the investigation of lame horses at the hospital, dealing with all aspects of surgery and orthopaedics including radiography (X-rays) and scintigraphy (bone scans), dealing with referrals from both within the practice and other local vets. He sits his RCVS surgery exams in July 2007.

A keen sports player Andy continues to play football and rugby, and more recently has started competing in 10k running races. He also enjoys playing the piano and guitar, and can be seen performing at local venues around Arundel!

In August  2007 Andy started a 3 year surgical internship at the Royal Veterinary College.
